The PCG Herald, 1st Imprinting

In Wurm Stories on December 6, 2009 by admin Tagged: , ,

A part of Wurm’s charm is the drama it generates from the minutiae of village life. It’s hard to explain that, but we’re trying. To help tell these little stories, PC Gamer village resident Tom “Legionary” Chappelow has created a single page newspaper called The PCG Herald. We’ve printed a sample story below, but the rest of the first issue can be downloaded in PDF form right here.

All Creatures Great & Diminutive

Rose and Bertha, yesterday.

VILLAGERS can look forward to being awoken by the pattering of tiny cloven feet after two animals were born over just a couple of days. The villagers who are most pleased with their new acquisitions are Mibeshu and Hulkmccracken, who welcome Rose the foal and Wee Bertha the cow.

The confines of their mothers’ wombs being at last too much to bear, the two animals did extrude themselves most hastily and, thanks to the miracle of labour, with a great commotion. First to stumble blinking into the world was Mibeshu’s foal who bears the name Rose, who was carried to term by her mother Parsley and fathered by Jekev’s rampant bull Pothop. Also new to the village is Wee Bertha, Hulkmccracken’s new calf. Borne by Big Bertha and sired by Bert, Wee Bertha is easily viewed by those curious as she stands overlooking the road to the Soup Kitchen.

Rose and Wee Bertha face the prospect most alarming of living in interesting times, as another goblin incident took place recently. A dastardly champion goblin who eyewitnesses reported to “look sly, like a fox or possibly a misadjusted owl” was seen near Glitterlake behaving in a way that eyewitnesses described as “suspicious, like a broom handle smelling of substances most noxious”. A call to arms went up amongst the villagers, and presently the goblin was beset by Jekev, Hulkmccracken, Legionary and village neighbor Lancelot. After some difficulties involving severe injury and crippling wounds, the goblin was at last slain.

Sadly there was to be no feast of goblin meat due to inept butchery on behalf of Hulkmccracken. Should any person wish to express their opinion of this failing, this publication will be most happy to pass said opinions along to him.

With the attack seen off, fortunately it appears that Rose and Wee Bertha are safe for the moment and can look forward to a long and happy life.

In unrelated news, local glue and leather makers refused to comment on reports that the value of their investment stock had increased.
